About North Bengal St. Xavier’s College:
North Bengal St. Xavier’s College, Jalpaiguri, was the third Jesuit college established in the northern area of West Bengal, India. Founded in 2007, it offers undergraduate courses in arts and sciences and is affiliated with the University of North Bengal. Xavier’s is preceded by two other Jesuit university colleges in the North Bengal area of the state of West Bengal, India: St Joseph’s College, Darjeeling (1927) and Loyola College of Education, Namchi (1993). Xavier’s has campuses at Raiganj and Siliguri. The university has two hostels that together accommodate 204 students. There are 41 on the teaching staff and 22 on the support staff. Xavier’s Alumni Association of North Bengal was formed in 2013.

Admission Procedure for UG Courses:
Applicants must have passed the Higher Secondary (H.S./12th) examinations conducted by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary education in 10+2 pattern after a period of 12 years of study or an examination by other boards recognized as equivalent by the University of North Bengal. Applicants from ISC, CBSE, National Open School (NIOS) or other recognized boards must have at least 04 subjects (excluding Environmental studies) with English as a compulsory subject.
Eligibility Criteria:
1) For Hons. courses an applicant must have obtained either (i) 55% marks in the aggregate or (ii) 50% marks in the aggregate with 60% marks in the subject.
2) For SC/ST candidates the minimum marks for eligibility to apply for admission to Hons. courses is (i) 50% marks in the aggregate or (ii) 45% in the aggregate with 60% in the subject concerned.
3) For Program an applicant must have passed in at least 4 subjects excluding Environmental Studies with English as a compulsory subject in W.B. Higher Secondary/equivalent exam/Vocational stream.
North Bengal St. Xavier’s College Merit List:
(i) Merit= Marks obtained in English + Marks obtained in the subject opted for honours + best marks of other two subjects (excluding ENVS, the subject opted for Honours & English)/4.
(ii) Merit= T1/4 for candidates who do not have a subject opted for honours in his/her previous course (where T1 = Marks in English + best Marks of other three subjects excluding ENVS).

Admission is made strictly on the basis of merit as per the marks obtained in the last qualifying examination, keeping in view the stipulated Rules and Regulations set by the University of Calcutta and the Higher Education Department of State Government.
