Candidates should know the exam pattern before beginning the SSC CHSL preparation. The total information about the Exam Pattern is given below
- SSC CHSL 2019 Tier 1 exam will be conducted in Online mode
- The descriptive paper Tier II will be 100 marks within 60 minutes in pen and paper mode
SSC CHSL Tier I
This is an Objective exam which will be conducted Online. There are 4 sections in the Tier 1 exam with 100 questions which account for a total of 200 marks. There is negative marking in SSC CHSL 2019 Tier 1 Exam. Giving the wrong answer to a question will lead to a penalty of 0.5 marks in all sections. The exam duration will be increased to 80 minutes for the Physically Handicapped candidates.

SSC CHSL Tier II
CHSL exam pattern for Tier II is such that the question paper will be descriptive in nature wherein candidates have to write an essay and a letter/ application (in pen and paper mode) in a one-hour duration. The exam is of 60 minutes duration and carries 100 marks. The questions are based on 10 levels. The exam is Qualifying Nature. Part paper written in Hindi and Part in English will be evaluated.

SSC CHSL Tier III (Skill Test)

Entry Operator: Candidates should have a data entry speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour on the computer. However, candidates applying for the post of Data Entry Operator in the office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG) should have a speed of not less than 15,000 key depressions per hour on the computer. Candidates need to complete their data entry speed test in a duration of 15 minutes. It may be noted that the data entry speed test is qualifying in nature.
The official website informs, “The speed of key depressions per hour on a computer will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words/ key depressions as per the given passage.”
Typing Test for LDC / JSA and PA / SA: Typing test is conducted in both English and Hindi Languages and candidates at the time of filling CHSL application form need to indicate their choice for the medium of the test. In the typing test, candidates should have a speed of minimum 35 words/minutes (in English) & 30 words/ min. for Hindi.

SSC CHSL Tier-II Syllabus
As stated above, this paper calls for candidates to write an essay and Letter/Application that tests the writing skills of the candidates. The essay topics will be related to National Interest, Finance & Economy, Ecological Issues, Politics, Social Issues, Schemes & Governance, Sports, Technology, Geopolitics, Environmental Concerns, etc. While, the type of letter/ application asked will be Application, Complaint, Suggestion, Official Appreciation, Follow up or Feedback, etc.
SSC CHSL Tier III Syllabus
Tier-III of SSC CHSL 2019 will be a Skill/ Typing Test of qualifying nature. The final merit of the selected candidates will be based on the basis of the total score obtained in Tier-I and Tier-II.
