Eligibility for Government Teaching Job in West Bengal:
• Primary Level Teachers- This is considered as the lowest level of the Education board. The applicant will be hired as Primary school Teachers. To be eligible for this post candidates must have passed their class 12th with a certificate of full-time D.Ed from a recognized University. Also, candidates should successfully be passed the West Bengal Teacher Eligibility Test (WBTET).
• Secondary Level Teachers- This is the category where the candidates with Graduation can apply. From class V to class VII is come under Secondary Level. At the Primary Level, the applicant should be passed the WBTET exam for this post too.
• Higher Secondary Level Teacher- This vacancy would fill up with the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) exam. It is compulsory for an applicant to have a B.Ed degree in any respected subject from any recognized University.
• University Professors- Master Candidates with compulsory B.Ed are eligible to apply for these posts. West Bengal Government will hold a National Eligibility Test (NET) to select worthy candidates for this.
West Bengal Govt school Teacher Job Examination
Lick all other States, West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) conduct West Bengal Teacher Eligibility Test every year. Applicants will be selected for the post of teacher in primary for all schools of West Bengal State through this exam. Candidates must go with the eligibility criteria before applying for WBTET.
Eligibility Criteria for WBTET Exam:
WBTET Eligibility Criteria for Primary Teachers (Class I to V)
Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent 10+2) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year diploma in Elementary Education (DEIEd)
OR
Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent 10+2) with at least 50% marks and 4 years Bachelor of
Elementary Education (BEIEd)
OR
Graduation and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (DEIEd)
WBTET Eligibility Criteria for Primary Teachers (Class VI to VIII)
Applicant should have BA / B.Sc and those appearing in final 2-year D.Ed. / B.A / B.Sc with at least 45% marks and passed/appearing in B.Ed / Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) / 4-year BA / B.Sc.Ed or B.A (Ed.) / B.Sc. (Ed.) / B.Ed (Special Education) with 50% in BA or B.Sc are Eligible for WBTET.
West Bengal TET Exam Pattern:
West Bengal Teacher Eligibility Test is done in two-stage Paper I for those candidates who want to be a for Primary level (Class I to V) & Paper-II is eligible to become a teacher for classes VI-VIII (TGT – Trained Graduate Teacher). Through the exam pattern, candidates will be able to get the structure of the question paper. The exam pattern will include the duration of the exam, the weightage of each topic, and the overall marks of the West Bengal Primary Teacher exam.
Both Paper are objective types. Each paper will consist of 150 MCQs. Each question carries 1 mark totaling for 150 marks. There will be 30 questions from each subject. The total time duration of the exam will be 90 minutes.
