Union PSC ESE Exam Details 2019-2020
Selection of the candidates will be on the basis of the three-phase selection process, Stage I will be objective type exam for selection of candidates to the Stage II. Mains exam will consist of two conventional type papers in Engineering Discipline specific with a duration of three hours and maximum marks of 600 (300 marks in each paper). Stage III will consist of Personality Test carrying 200 marks.

- The question in the Preliminary Exam is objective type. Whereas, questions in mains exam are conventional in nature

- For every wrong answer, one-third marks will be deducted
ESE Preliminary Exam Pattern 2019
Exam Mode: UPSC ESE Prelims will be in Offline mode. It is a written examination. Candidates will be provided with separated OMR sheets for both papers. Applicant should color the right answer.
Papers: Preliminary paper (Stage I) will consist of two paper. Paper, I will have a question from General Studies and Paper 2 will have questions from engineering Discipline (Civil Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering)
Paper Type: The Paper mode will be Objective Type i.e. the questions are of Multiple Choice. Each question will have 4 choices in which one answer is correct.
Negative Marking: For each wrong answer, one-third marks are deducted. Candidates marking more than one answer, it is treated as a wrong answer. Questions left unanswered will have no deduction for marks. Marks obtained in this stage are counted for determining the final order of merit.
